It has become a rather infectious trend, the idea of getting movie stars to play a much more glamorized version of themselves on television shows, but it has been extra-ordinarily successful.
We have the example of Charlie Sheen making a killing by being just himself on the sets of Two and a Half Men, and then getting fired from the same show, again just by being himself.
Another example would be of actor David Duchovny, the man who made a name and a killing with The X-Files, and currently is the centre of attraction of a potentially long drawn separation saga, his raunchy television series, Californication.
David Duchovny is a sex addict and a two-time winner of the Golden Globe Award for The Best Actor in a Television Series; a trophy once snapped for The X-Files and once for Californication. Yeah, he is a known sex-addict, a similarity that he shares with his current on-screen character, Hank Moody.
But David, by now should be expected to handle each and every slightly off the cuff aspect of his personality, including his addiction to intercourse, because he has been down the road; in fact, he’s been on this road many, many times.
He ought to be more responsible, and although there are conflicting reports of an impending divorce with his lovely wife and noted Hollywood actress, Tea Leoni, let’s hope that somebody is able to put some sense into David’s head and save not only his marriage, but the future of their kids.
I know, there are reports that he and Tea Leoni are trying to get back together, and if they are true, then David would have proved that he’s good man, a family man, for once and for all! But, it won’t be easy, especially with the entire media spotlight on his personal life and paparazzi stalking him.
Maybe he’s had a bit too much of Hank Moody in his system, so, a little bit of agent Fox Mulder would suit him better, and hopefully he can be the father and the husband he needs to be, because he has been the actor for too long.
On that serious note, I suggest y’all watch X-Files, without any breaks, either in online mode or by downloading it.
