Though the series X- Files Tv show has been declared ended about six years ago, it is still remembered by its fans for a number of reasoned. TV Guide declared it to be the second greatest cult television show (Star Trek being number one). Created by Chris Carter, this series did wonders for FOX Broadcasting Company network as its characters and slogans (e.g., “The Truth Is Out There”, “Trust No One”, “I Want to Believe”) became pop culture touchstones. The series focused on two FBI agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) who were assigned marginalized, unsolved cases involving paranormal phenomena known as X- Files. Subverting the gender roles usually shown on the television, Mulder was the voice of belief who had faith in the existence of paranormal and aliens etc. whereas Scully was a skeptic, whose appointment was meant to debunk the unconventional work of Mulder. But during the progress of the show they grew closer and their relationship turned more romantic than platonic as they were caught in the bigger conflict termed as the mythology of the show. Their closeness climaxed during 7th and 8th season when Scully gave birth to their son. About two third of the show was made up of stand alone episodes where Scully and Mulder investigated singularly bizarre cases which had no implications on the main story arch and their themes ranged from horror to somber to comedy.

In last two seasons, Mulder scarcely appeared on the show and X-Files episode came to be dominated completely by Scully. FBI Agents John Doggett (Robert Patrick) and Monica Reyes (Annabeth Gish) were introduced as the main characters. When the show’s finale episode was aired, X-Files was the longest running sci-fi on the American television ever.
